4th of July celebrations are approaching. This holiday is a wonderful way to celebrate our freedoms, flag, veterans and country. Fireworks are a common way to display our patriotism. This year, drought conditions add to the risk posed by fireworks. Vernal residents are encouraged to be wise, safe and careful when purchasing and lighting fireworks. Please use caution when lighting fireworks including staying away from dry areas and keeping a pressurized water hose nearby. The State legislature passed laws that severely limit what cities can control regarding fireworks within City limits. Fireworks are allowed this year within the unincorporated Uintah County area. There are no residential fireworks allowed on City property including within the Walking Park and the Ashley Valley Community Park. The large community fireworks show will occur on Monday, July 4th at 10pm in Ashley Valley Community Park as part of Dinosaurland Freedom Fest. Help keep our beautiful community a safe place to live and celebrate.
