City of Vernal issued the following announcement on May 25.
The Vernal community has responded once again in a big way! The grassroots
fundraising effort to save T-Rex met the lofty goal in 19 days. The
fundraising goal of $30,000 was exceeded with $31,357 in donations from over
200 individual donors and businesses. The funds were gathered through a Go
Fund Me account, donations directly to Charitable Friends of Ashley Valley
and a local donor. Donations as small as $5 accumulated to reach the goal.
Thanks to the local effort, T-Rex - the large, iconic green dino in Vernal
will not go extinct. He will be repaired this summer with a major makeover.
City funds dedicated to the project will be used for landscaping on T-Rex's
island and safety measures. Thank you Vernal!
